Maryland Unemployment Benefits Estimator

Applies the 381-line schedule of Md. Code, Labor & Employment § 8-803 ($50 to $430, $1 for every $24 of high-quarter wages), the qualifying-wage test of § 8-802 with the six-line step-down, the $8 child allowance of § 8-804 and the $50 earnings disregard. Estimates only — the Maryland Department of Labor determines actual amounts.

How this tool works. Your highest base-period quarter places you on a line of the § 8-803 schedule: $1,176.01 to $1,200 gives $50 a week, each further $24 adds $1, and $10,296.01 or more gives the $430 maximum. To receive that line’s amount, your wages in at least two quarters must total its qualifying wages (column C, 1.5 times the line’s upper limit, $15,480 on the top line). If they fall short, you can be placed up to six lines lower; below that, you do not qualify. Benefits are payable for up to 26 times the weekly amount. Each dependent child adds $8, but the weekly total cannot exceed $430. In a week of part-time work, wages above $50 are deducted dollar for dollar.

Limitations. This is a calculation, not a determination. If you do not qualify on the standard base period, the Department uses the alternate base period (the four most recently completed quarters), which you can test by entering those quarters instead. Separation issues, availability and the three weekly reemployment activities are decided separately.
