New York Unemployment Benefits Estimator (2026)

Applies the NYS DOL computation rules (fact sheet P832, rev. 2/26; maximum $869 effective October 6, 2025) to the wages you enter. Estimates only — the DOL determines actual amounts.

How this tool works. The estimator applies the formulas in NYS DOL fact sheet P832 (rev. 2/26): with wages in all four base-period quarters, your rate is your highest quarter divided by 26 when that quarter tops $3,575 (divided by 25 at or below it); with wages in only two or three quarters, the divisor applies to the average of your two best quarters when the highest exceeds $4,000. Results below $143 on the ÷26 path are raised to $143; the overall bounds are the $140 minimum (January 2026) and the $869 maximum effective October 6, 2025 — now indexed at 50% of the state average weekly wage. The maximum benefit amount reflects New York’s uniform 26-week duration.

Limitations. This is a calculation, not a determination. Non-monetary requirements (job loss through no fault of your own, ready/willing/able to work, active work search, weekly certification, one unpaid waiting week) also apply and are assessed by the DOL after you file. The tool uses your reported figures — the DOL uses employer-reported wages, and its result can differ by about $1 due to rounding. It does not cover Shared Work, federal employees, or partial-benefit calculations.
