South Carolina Unemployment Benefits Calculator

Applies S.C. Code 41-35-40 and 41-35-50: weekly benefit amount = 50% of your high-quarter average weekly wage (high quarter / 26), rounded down, from $42 to $350 for claims effective on or after February 2, 2025; total benefits = the lesser of 20 times your weekly amount or 1/3 of your base-period wages; in a part-time week, earnings above 1/4 of your weekly amount are deducted. Estimates only — the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce determines actual amounts.

How this tool works. Your weekly amount is your highest base-period quarter divided by 26 (50% of the average weekly wage in that quarter), rounded down to the dollar, raised to the $42 minimum or capped at the $350 maximum (reached at $9,100 in one quarter). To qualify you need at least $1,092 in your high quarter, $4,455 in the base period and base-period wages of at least 1.5 times your high quarter. Total benefits are the lesser of 20 times your weekly amount or 1/3 of your base-period wages. In a part-time week, wages above 1/4 of your weekly amount are deducted; wages above your full weekly amount stop the payment (S.C. Code 41-35-40, 41-35-50, 41-35-110; DEW claimant handbook).

Limitations. This is a calculation, not a determination. It does not model separation issues, the unpaid waiting week, weekly work search activities, deductions for pensions or severance, or the alternate base period.
