Tennessee Unemployment Benefits Estimator (2026)

Applies the benefit formula in Tenn. Code Ann. § 50-7-301 as amended by 2021 Public Chapter 560: weekly benefit = 1/26 of the average of your two highest base-period quarters, $55 minimum, $325 maximum, up to 12 weeks at the current state unemployment rate.

Enter your gross wages for each calendar quarter of your base period (the first four of the last five completed quarters). Leave a quarter blank if you had no wages.

How this tool works

The estimator averages your two highest base-period quarters and divides by 26, rounding to the nearest dollar, then applies the statutory floor ($55) and ceiling ($325) set by Tenn. Code Ann. § 50-7-301 as amended by 2021 Public Chapter 560 (effective for claims filed on or after December 1, 2023). Monetary eligibility applies the three tests reported for Tennessee in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Significant Provisions of State UI Laws (January 2026): total base-period wages of at least 40 times the weekly benefit, an average of at least $780.01 across the two highest quarters, and wages outside the highest quarter of at least the lesser of 6 times the weekly benefit or $900. Partial benefits disregard the greater of $50 or 25% of your weekly benefit; earnings above the disregard reduce the payment dollar for dollar.

Limitations

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) computes the official amount from a statutory benefit table, which can differ from this estimate by about a dollar due to bracket rounding. The 12-week duration applies while Tennessee’s average unemployment rate is at or below 5.5%; the statute extends duration in 0.5-point steps up to 20 weeks above 9%. This tool does not model federal extended benefits, severance interactions, or disqualifications (quit, misconduct, refusal of suitable work). A one-week unpaid waiting period applies to new claims.
